DON’T THINK I’VE FORGOTTEN Filmmaker in Person at the NoHo Opening Weekend

May 8, 2015 by Lamb L.

Through the eyes, words and songs of its popular music stars of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, DON’T THINK I’VE FORGOTTEN: CAMBODIA’S LOST ROCK & ROLL examines and unravels Cambodia’s tragic past. Combining interviews with surviving musicians and never-before-seen archival material and rare songs, the film tracks the winding course of Cambodian music as it morphs into a unique style of rock and roll. A vibrant musical culture that was nearly lost forever under the brutal Khmer Rouge regime is revived and celebrated.

DON’T THINK I’VE FORGOTTEN filmmaker John Pirozzi will participate in Q&A’s after the 7:10 screenings at the NoHo on Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16.

FELIX AND MEIRA Q&A’s Opening Weekend at the Royal and Town Center 5

April 21, 2015 by Lamb L.

FELIX AND MEIRA is a calling card for its young director, Maxime Giroux; a story of an unconventional romance between two people living vastly different realities mere blocks away from one another. Each lost in their everyday lives, Meira (Hadas Yaron), a Hasidic Jewish wife and mother and Félix (Martin Dubreuil), a secular loner mourning the recent death of his estranged father, unexpectedly meet in a local bakery in Montreal’s Mile End district. What starts as an innocent friendship becomes more serious as the two wayward strangers find comfort in one another. As Felix opens Meira’s eyes to the world outside of her tight-knit Orthodox community, her desire for change becomes harder for her to ignore, ultimately forcing her to choose: remain in the life that she knows or give it all up to be with Félix. Giroux’s film is a poignant and touching tale of self-discovery set against the backdrops of Montreal, Brooklyn, and Venice, Italy.

FELIX AND MEIRA co-star Luzer Twersky will participate in Q&A’s after the 7:10 PM screenings at the Royal on Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25 and at the Town Center after the 4:30 PM shows on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26.

April 14, 2015 by Lamb L.

A chance encounter on the streets of Manhattan draws twenty-something aspiring writer Brian (Anton Yelchin) into a passionate love affair with a glamorous French woman (Skyfall Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe). The catch? She’s married, and can only meet him for hotel room trysts between the hours of 5 and 7. As Brian yearns for more than just two hours a day with the woman of his dreams, he learns hard-won lessons about life and love. THE HUMAN EXPERIMENT Executive Producer Sean Penn and Director Don Hardy at the Music Hall Friday Night

April 14, 2015 by Lamb L.

THE HUMAN EXPERIMENT lifts the veil on the shocking reality that thousands of untested chemicals are in our everyday products, homes and bodies. Simultaneously, the prevalence of many diseases continues to rise. From Oscar® winner Sean Penn and Emmy® winning journalists Dana Nachman and Don Hardy, THE HUMAN EXPERIMENT tells the personal stories of people who believe their lives have been affected by chemicals and takes viewers to the front lines as activists go head-to-head with the powerful and well-funded chemical industry. These activists bring to light a corrupt system that’s been hidden from consumers… until now.

Mr. Penn will introduce the 7:30 PM screening at the Music Hall on Friday, April 17. Mr. Hardy and special guests will participate in a Q&A afterward.

A tale of two broken souls. A call-girl named Yumi, “night-blooming flower,” and Tetsuro, a married man with a debt to the yakuza, have a violent rendezvous in a cheap love hotel. Years later, haunted by the memory of that night, they reconnect and begin a strange love affair. "[Somai's] exquisite visual compositions (of lonely bedrooms, concrete piers, and nocturnal courtyards) infuse even the film’s racy images with a somber sense of longing and introspection, finding beauty and humanity in the midst of the macabre." ~ New York Times #LoveHotel #ShinjiSomai #JapaneseCinema
